What is the Full Form of SIT?
SIT - Special Investigation Team
Special Investigation Team is a special team appointed for an investigation of any specific case whose investigation was not done properly by the existing investigating agency. There is no such law in the constitution that specifies that a particular type of case could be assigned to a SIT. It is usually the high profile cases which are assigned to this team.
The SIT first presents his report in front of the court in the first instance. Then, it is up to the Court Committee to finally accept this report or completely reject it.
